02 Jun 2017 - Kinshasa, 2nd June 2017 – The crisis in the Kasaï provinces, situated at the center of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) has a disastrous impact on the local communities. The United Nations is seriously concerned by the continuing crisis and its impact on the populations’ survival. More than one million people are currently displaced due to the violence plaguing that part of the DRC.
17 May 2017 - Kinshasa, 15 May 2017: Following the statement made at its press conference on 10 May regarding the protection of Dr Mukwege, MONUSCO wishes to clarify that it does not provide 24H protection to Panzi hospital and that this task is carried out by the Police Nationale Congolaise (PNC).
30 Apr 2017 - Kinshasa, 29 April 2017: The Special Representative of the Secretary-General in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) and Head of MONUSCO, Maman Sidikou, takes note of the latest political developments in the DRC and urges all Congolese stakeholders to work towards the swift and full implementation of the 31 December Agreement. He further notes that several but not all the signatories of the New Year's Eve Agreement signed the Special Arrangements.
10 Apr 2017 - Kinshasa, 9 April 2017 - The Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) and Head of the United Nations Stabilization Mission in the Congo (MONUSCO), Maman Sidikou, continues to follow recent developments in the country closely and has taken note in this regard, of the appointment by President Joseph Kabila, on 7 April 2017, of a new Prime Minister, Mr. Bruno Tshibala.
05 Apr 2017 - KINSHASA, 5 April 2017 – MONUSCO is alarmed by ongoing reports from the Kasai region of escalating violence that is continuing to result in serious human rights violations including an ever growing number of civilian casualties and the discovery of mass graves as well as ongoing recruitment by the militias, especially of children.
29 Mar 2017 - Kinshasa, March 29, 2017 – As announced by the Secretary General of the United Nations yesterday, the United Nations Mission in the DRC (MONUSCO) has confirmed that the bodies located and recovered by MONUSCO peacekeepers on 27 March are those of the two members of the Group of Experts on the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Michael Sharp (United States) and Zaida Catalan (Sweden), missing since 12 March.

18 Mar 2017 - KINSHASA, 18 March 2017 – MONUSCO expresses grave concern over reports of renewed violence in Kananga between 14 and 17 March 2017. The Mission has received credible reports of high numbers of deaths in the context of clashes between Kamwina Nsapu militiamen and members of the Congolese security forces.
13 Mar 2017 - Kinshasa, March 13th, 2017. - Two members of the Group of Experts on the Democratic Republic of the Congo, which reports to the Security Council Committee established pursuant to resolution 1533 (2004), are reported missing in that country. The UN, including the UN peacekeeping operation in the DRC MONUSCO, are doing everything possible to locate the experts.
