Martin Kobler, Chief of MONUSCO, applauds Congolese sportsmen and women and urges them to engage in the service of peace and tolerance

Kinshasa, 6 April 2015 – “Sports means knowing how to compete in full respect for one’s rival and the rules of the game. It is building, in adversity and respect, a beautiful game or good gesture. In this regard, sport is a societal model” declared Martin Kobler, the Special Representative of the UN Secretary General in the DRC.

“Today, I also wish to pay tribute to the Congolese National Soccer Team known as the “Léopards” which demonstrated the highest level of Fair play, in particular during the last African Cup of Nations. They showed the importance of a positive mindset for success. Congratulations to the Léopards!”, cheered Martin Kobler enthusiastically.
