Roger Meece expresses his best wishes to the Congoles people and government

Kinshasa, 31 December 2010- On the occasion of the end of year festivities, the Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Roger Meece, expresses his best wishes and a happy and prosperous New Year to the people and government of the DRC.


"This year witnessed the transformation of the United Nations Mission in the Congo (MONUC) to the United Nations Stabilisation Mission in the Congo (MONUSCO) with the main thrust being the protection of the civilian population."
"It is my hope that as we usher in the year 2011, there will be sustained economic, social and political stability so that the people of this nation can live in peace and harmony."
