World Aids Day 2015
Maman Sidikou, Head of MONUSCO, and Marc Saba, Country Director of UNAIDS in the DRC, launch an appeal for fast-tracking the HIV response to end the AIDS epidemic as part of the Sustainable Development Goals
Kinshasa, 1st December 2015 – “The World AIDS Day reminds us of the importance of implementing the response to this epidemic. All existing means of prevention must be used to avoid new infections and all necessary services must be available to accompany HIV-infected and affected persons,” stated Maman Sidikou, Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General in the DRC and Head of MONUSCO.
UNAIDS’s current strategy on the HIV response incorporates concrete, ambitious and realizable objectives to end the epidemic by 2030. The Fast-Track approach for quickening the pace of the response is geared towards achieving the triple 90-90-90 objective by 2020, which means that 90% of all people living with HIV will know their HIV status,
